Review…

I was sent the 'Dorothy' kit from Color It New to review.

The price for this kit is $19.95.

Packaging & Presentation of
Kristina Anapau's Color It New

This kit arrived to my house in perfect condition.  It was shipped in a heavy duty box, and measures 7.5" x 4.25" x 3.25", so it'll fit in your standard mailbox.  The exterior box was labeled with 'Color It New', so I was excited before I even opened it!  The box opened nicely, and everything was packaged perfectly.

The kit was put together nicely, and contained everything you need.  It has the directions, tape, gloves, alcohol pads, the actual color dye, and a drop cloth.

The can of color dye is a decent size, so you'll be able to get a lot of use out of it.  The can measures 6.5" x 1.75". The front of the can labels the product, brand, color, and danger information.  The back explains a little about the product, provides directions for use, dangers, warnings, and warranty statements.

The can has a safety seal on it, and it is complete with an easy-tear perforated strip.  The actual nozzle is a a press trigger.

My Personal Experience with Kristina Anapau's Color It New

Guess what?  I was lucky enough to interview Kristina Anapau personally! I asked her a few questions about this product, and I wanted to share the responses with you:

Q:  I see that you have a busy career, how do you find time for Color it New?

A:   Finding the proper balance in everything!  Also working with great people really helps!

Q:  Where do you see your business going within the next few years?

A:  We are looking at several avenues--- craft stores, infomercials, direct response.  We also like Europe, but their rules are stricter.

Q: When did you start Color it New?

A:  I started this 4 years ago.  The idea was played around with.  I had to go to a red carpet event, and I didn't have the right shoes.  I found a chemist who made this dye, and it worked perfectly!  There was 18 months of R&D, and it is made here in the USA.

Q: How long will the dye last?

A:  This dye bonds permanently.  If you want to change the color, use acetone over the current color before you apply the next.

Q:  Do you have any competition, if so what makes you different?

A:  There isn't any current competition, but more of just 'shoe repair' places.

This kit is so awesome.  The point of Color It New is to take what you currently have, and quickly change the color.  It's so fun, easy, and affordable.  I have a pair of white shoes that I am going to switch to red, but I want to wear them for Easter first.  I practiced on a sample piece just so I can show you how it works.  First, I read the directions.

The actual first step was to create my drop. I used the box as a stand, and put the including cover over it.  I put the piece of fabric on top of the box.  It is a deep brown color.

Next, I cleaned it with an alcohol pad and placed a piece of tape in the center so I can have a gradient effect in the end.  Usually, the tape is for cover the soles and interior of the shoes that you are dyeing.

Now, it is time for gloves, because we are about to get spraying.

I sprayed the left hand side a vibrant, bright red.  The right side was a little more sparse for an effect that I was testing out.

I waited 15 minutes, and it was done!  The fabric was totally dyed, and looked great.  I love that there is so much you can do with it!

This is a really great idea.  There are so many times that I love my style of shoe, but it's not the right color for my outfit.  This kit makes it easy to fix that problem, and you'll be wearing your shoes in only a few hours.  I love how it provides a rich color, and it lasts a long time.
