..::Book Review::.. Motivate Your Child by Dr. Scott Turanksky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN

Overview

"Most parenting approaches end up encouraging children to ask the wrong questions about life: What’s in it for me? Are you going to pay me for that? What’s the minimum I need to do to get by?

But God’s Word gives us a better way to parent, one that builds strong internal motivation in children. When parents change the way they parent, kids change the way they live. This practical book explores a theology of internal motivation and then gives parents real-life solutions to equip their kids for life"

My Personal Review

The older my son gets, the more I notice a few quirks in his personality that I'd like to nip in the butt.  I want to make sure that I provide the ultimate guidance for him as he develops and learns from my example.  Sometimes it's a little hard for me to see the world from his eyes, and I need to slow down and be more patient with him.

I like that this book is divided into two parts:  moral development and spiritual development.  I'll be the first to admit that I'm not great at guiding my son spiritually.  This book makes it a lot easier in learning how to do that, and how to get him to actually be motivated to want to do it himself.  This book has really pointed out a lot about how children understand things, and what I can do to ensure he is taking the most from everything in these aspects.

I absolutely love this book.  It's easy to understand and well written.  I was so excited to be able to review this.  Another thing that I like is that different people can read the book differently.  You can read the whole book through, or you can look at the index and pick pieces that relate to certain situations.

This book is very detailed and is a great tool for people like me who sometimes feel lost in the world of spiritual guidance.  I really enjoy using the information within the book and applying it to my real-life situations.

Something else that is amazing is that there are materials that come with this book.  You can get these free materials (valued at $150) by sending an email to:  gift@biblicalparenting.org with 'MYC150 Promo' in the subject line.  They will then send you a link with a special code to access and download the videos, audio, and written products.
