Review…

I was sent the Waverly 33" x 60" light-filtering rollershade in Birdsong Dwell - Honeydew from Steve's Blinds & Wallpaper to review.

This particular rollershade is around $100.00.  Shipping is free.

Packaging & Presentation of Steve's Blinds & Wallpaper - Waverly Rollershade

This rollershade arrived safely to my door.  It was packaged very nicely inside and out.  It was a very long box, approximately 65" long.  The box was wrapped with tape and plastic bands to keep it secure during shipment.

There are a few stickers on the box, alongside the packing slip.  The box has two heavy duty cardboard strips that prevent the box from bending or crushing.

On the side flap, there is a label that lists the delivery number and sales order.  To me, this is a very nice way to keep everything in order and make sure the customer is getting the correct product.

Before anything, you have to cut the plastic bands off of the box.  Don't try to rip these, use scissors.  After that, the box opens up on the side so you can slide the contents out.

Everything is wrapped tightly in segmented plastic.  You can cut each side if you'd like.

Inside, the actual rollershade was covered in protective bubble wrap, and it was taped off.  I'm telling you-- this company packs well.

After unwrapping everything, I found the rollershade, the instructions, the installations parts (screws, mounts, etc.), and the bead chain loop.  Breaking this down even further, the 'Installation Parts' bag contained the mount and screws for the rollershade, hardware for the bead chain loop installation, and the bead chain loop instructions.

My Personal Experience with Steve's Blinds & Wallpaper - Waverly Rollershade

Look, guys.  Would you just look at this.

Horrible, right?  Yes, I know.  These are the blinds in my living room after my cat got a hold of them.  He destroyed them.  I was planning on putting some cheap blinds up there, but I figured a rollershade would be better, because he won't show any interest in it.  You know what would look a lot cuter?  Something bright with birds on it (my favorite!).  Something like this:

Before anything-- I highly, highly suggest reading, interpreting, and doing a test-run on the instructions before you begin to install this.  The instructions are awful, and do not really explain much.  Trust me, I consider myself a 'pretty handy individual', and I had a bit of trouble with the directions.  Not that it was super hard or anything, but I've never installed a rollershade before.

I began by measuring the center of the window and lining it up with the shade.  You can use a pencil to do this.  I also marked inside my brackets so I knew where to drill the holes.

Next-- drill your holes!  Place the screws in the brackets, and make sure they are tight.

Now, the fun part.  Place the rollershade in the right bracket first, and then the left bracket.  The left bracket has a little movable foot, so you can easily take the rollershade up and down at your leisure without messing up the hardware.

The bead chain loop can be left as you like it, or it can be mounted either inside or outside.  Since my window is flush to my wall, I had to use the outside mount.  This is kind of weird, so pay attention.  The mounts are manufactured together, so they are one piece.  You are going to break them apart, and use the one that you need.  So, I broke it apart, and screwed the outer mount onto my wall.  This part was difficult, because it has to be just right, or your bead chain loop won't hold enough tension and flap all over.

Finally-- you are done!  How cute is this rollershade?!  You can dress it up with curtains, and keep it half-pulled... whatever floats your boat!  I just love it, and it makes me want to get a few more for my other windows.  You can't have just one, right?!

Cons of Steve's Blinds & Wallpaper - Waverly Rollershade

            Summary

I'd say this was a success.  I love how it looks, and it functions completely well.  It's bright, it lets light in, and it is very smooth.  On the other hand, I absolutely hated the instructions.  They weren't clear, and very confusing for a first-timer.  I'd suggest putting these up with two people, so you can make sure that they aren't crooked.  You don't want to drill more holes in your wall than necessary!  Waverly is a well-known brand that has been around for years.  Definitely invest in one (or a few!) of these.  You won't be disappointed with them!
