Review…

I was sent the julienne & vegetable peeler from Nikkouware to review.

The price for this peeler is $9.97, and it ships free with Amazon Prime.

Packaging & Presentation of the Nikkouware Julienne & Vegetable Peeler

This peeler arrived to me in perfect condition!  I wasn't sure exactly what it was at first, because the box is plain white and it didn't have any sort of labeling on it.  The box is made out of cardboard, and it measures 7.25" x 3.5" x 1.0" at its widest points.

The box is a flip-top, and fits the peeler perfectly.

When I pulled it out, I found the peeler wrapped in plastic.  There were no instructions, which is kind of terrible because I've never used a julienne peeler before.

The peeler itself is pretty fancy.  It's made out of stainless steel, and has a nifty hanger on the end.

The first side is an actual vegetable peeler (like the normal ones that most of you have).  The other side is the julienne peeler (the side with the teeth).  There are also potato eye removers on the side.

My Personal Experience with the Nikkouware Julienne & Vegetable Peeler

I've heard so much about julienne peelers, but I've never used one before.  I always find the peelers by themselves, but never a 2-in-1 which is what attracted me to this peeler in specific.

For this review, I wanted to use it on a small sweet potato.

I used the vegetable peeler part to get the potato to the soft part, the best part for my julienne pieces.  The vegetable peeler part wasn't that great.  It was a little 'mechanical' feeling, and it's so sharp that it actually kind of scared me.  I'd rather use my ceramic peeler for smaller peeling jobs like this.  It worked, though, and that is the most important point.  It's just about your preference.

I was so excited to try the julienne peeler.  It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  The blade went right through, and I didn't get it stuck at all.

In the end, the process was fast, simple, and created appealing looking pieces.

Pros of the Nikkouware Julienne & Vegetable Peeler
  • The blades are really sharp.
  • Fits in my hand very well, and it's comfortable.
  • Made from stainless steel, so it won't rust or corrode.
  • Very durable, and will last a long time.
Cons of the Nikkouware Julienne & Vegetable Peeler
    • I didn't much care for the actual vegetable peeler part, I feel that I got more effective peeling from my ceramic peeler.
          Summary

I'm so happy that I finally got to try this type of peeler.  I have so many uses for it, and it really surprised me at how easy it is to use.  It's really durable.  I was impressed at how sharp the blades are, and how easily they slice through something as thick as a sweet potato.  It's definitely worth the $9.97 that they are asking.

This would be great for holiday meals and for getting the kids a little more excited about eating their veggies.

Looks like a great peeler. This would come in handy since my family eats lots of veggies.
