..::Review + Giveaway::.. January Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box

My Review of the January Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"Each month a fully designed project kit arrives in a delightful box filled with stamps, ink, and paper—everything cut and ready to go so you can skip to the fun. Just think of it as creativity in a box."

Review…
I was sent the January box from Stampin' Up to review.

The price for a 1-month subscription is $19.95.  A neat quality about Paper Pumpkin is that you can increase the number of kits per month.  If you are having a crafting party, you can order one kit per attendee in the same master order.

Packaging & Presentation of the January Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box

I was pretty excited to come home and see a little red Paper Pumpkin box sitting in the mailbox!  The exterior box is red and baby blue, and it is small enough to fit into a standard mailbox.  It measures 10.0" x 6.5" x 1.75".The side of the box says, "You're moments away from your escape..." and the bottom of the box is labeled 'Stampin' Up'.

When I opened the box, I was introduced to a tissue paper wrapped box of goodies (sealed with a cute Paper Pumpkin sticker!) with a subscription introduction pamphlet.  The inside of the box also completed the statement from the exterior with, "...Run away with me."

The first layer of unwrapping revealed this month's (January) stamp set, and a Classic Stampin' Spot in 'Real Red'.

The final layer housed the actual January kit, 'Filled With Love'.

The main title sheet provides a quick run-down of what you need to do, and it also opens up for a few more detailed instructions.  What I like about Paper Pumpkin is that they also provide YouTube video demonstrations on how to create the months' craft.  It is a helpful assistant, one in which I used! You can view this month's video above.

My Personal Experience with the January Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box

After unpacking everything, I was certainly ready to start creating!  First, before anything, I unpacked the actual kit and sat down and watched the YouTube video so I got an idea of what I was supposed to do (I'm a visual learner).

First things first-- break out the stamps!  Select and punch out your hearts from the sheet.  You can choose what stamp you would like to place on the center of each heart.  Then stamp away!!  I chose 'Be Mine, Valentine' and 'love'.

Next, punch out (2) pennants for each heart.  You can choose between red, pink, and white.  Attach a glue dot to each pennant, and affix to each other, and then to the back of the stamped heart.

Now-- the yummy part.  Grab your cellophane bags and fill them up with the candy of your choice.  I chose Gobstoppers because I'm pretty much obsessed with them.  When I finish the lot for my son's class, I will probably put some wrapped Sweet Tarts in there.

After you are done filling up the bag, fold over the top edge.  Punch out a decorative tag, and fold it over your edge (they are guided for you, so just fold on the line).

Grab a metal clip, and clip your heart with pennants on top.

...measure out 12.0" of baker's string...

and tie the string into a bow around the metal clip!

All finished!  These are adorable!

Pros of the January Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box
  • Everything is included.  There is no need to run to the craft store for anything that you may have forgot.
  • Each month brings a new craft, right to your door.
  • The crafts have detailed instructions including video instructions.
  • This kit has plenty of bags which is great for your child's classroom party.
  • I had a lot of fun with this kit, because you can do so much with it.  In fact, you can manipulate these crafts and do what works for you.

Cons of the January Paper Pumpkin Subscription Box
  • I haven't found any cons of this box, I loved everything about it.
Summary

This box is great for a few purposes-- it's quite fun to create your own treat bags, it serves a purpose, and it's themed.  I love creating themed crafts, especially ones that I can share with my son's classmates.  Any excuse to sugar up other people's kids, and I'm all for it!  :)  These are really simple to put together, and there are so many in this kit that it will cover an entire class, and even have a few extra.  They are incredibly cute, and they have a holiday-chicness to them.
