My Review of Mamma Chia Clean Energy Beverages

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"Mamma Chia’s new Organic Clean Energy line of chia beverages offers four tantalizing flavors: Blackberry Blast, Raspberry Razz, Grape Power, and Cherry Charge. Our Organic Clean Energy line combines the powerful nutrients of chia, the clean energy of fair-trade Guayusa, and a combination of organic fruit juices for a truly great tasting beverage that provides an energizing lift to your day."

Review…

I was a sent (4) 10 fl oz bottles of the Clean Energy Beverages (one of each flavor) from Mamma Chia to review.

Each bottle retails for $2.99 and can be found in Whole Foods, Safeway and Target, starting in January.

Packaging & Presentation of
Mamma Chia Clean Energy Beverages

I received my box of Mamma Chia Clean Energy Beverages in perfect condition.  There were not any leaks nor defects.  The bottles are made of glass and are see-through.  It was pretty neat how these were packaged-- they arrived in a shipping cooler.  There were a few papers placed on top.

When the blue cooler top was opened, I found an ice pack and a lot of bubble wrap.

...and my energy beverages!  I couldn't wait to try them.

Each bottle holds 10 fl oz.  You can see right through the bottle.  Each beverage inside looks the same, but the flavors are different.  You can see the chia seeds, and there are a lot of them.  The bottles have a silver chrome-ish label and it lists the product, brand, and some important ingredient details are listed in a ribbon at the top.

I received (4) different flavors to try:  Blackberry Blast, Cherry Charge, Raspberry Razz, and Grape Power.  See how they look kind of the same?  You can tell the difference at a glance because the labels have different colors depicting the different flavors.

The caps twist off easily and have a brushed-nickle type finish.  They also re-seal easily so you can store your drink back in the refrigerator if you don't finish it at one time.

Another thing that I'd like to point out is that these drinks are non-GMO verified, gluten-free, vegan, Kosher, and USDA Certified Organic (like all of the other Mamma Chia products).

The expiration date is printed clearly towards the top of the bottle.

My Personal Experience with Mamma Chia Clean Energy Beverages

I've been on a 10-day green smoothie cleanse (more about that tomorrow!), and with this cleanse, I've been introduced to chia seeds.  I was never aware of how good they are for you!  They can be added to anything, they have a nutty taste, and they are packed with Omega-3s.

Before I tried anything, I wanted to see what it looked like inside.  I wanted to make sure the chia was evenly distributed so each sip brings the same amount.  It was.  Check it out (this is the Cherry Charge):

So, the first thing I noticed was the smell.  It smells delicious.  Normally, healthy food/drinks don't always smell that great to me, but this one does.  It is very potent, meaning that the flavors are well distributed, and you will be able to enjoy exactly what Mamma Chia intended.  Another thing I noticed is that it has a higher viscosity than many of the drinks I am familiar with.  It is kind of like a runny jelly.  It goes down easy and smooth, but the texture is definitely different. My favorite was the Grape Power!  My son and husband got to try them, too!

Pros of Mamma Chia Clean Energy Beverages
  • Really, it's delicious.  The flavors are powerful and tasty.
  • Provides fiber, protein, Omega-3s, caffeine, antioxidants, calcium, and valuable minerals.
  • Only has 120 calories!
  • Vegan.  Everybody can drink these!
  • Widely available (starting January).

Cons of Mamma Chia Clean Energy Beverages
          • This drink has a different texture, sometimes people are finicky with different textures, so please be aware.
          • Maybe the company can offer a coupon on their website for 1st-time buyers so they can purchase the drink at a lower price to make sure they like it.
                Summary

I'm really happy with this product.  Everything about it is great. They are very healthy for you, the bottle design is eye-catching, the flavors are perfect, and it doesn't taste like it's watered-down.  Honestly, when I found out the price was $2.99 for these, I was kind of scared.  That's a hefty price for one drink that I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy.  But now that I was able to try it, I would definitely buy these again.  The bottle contains natural caffeine (the same amount as a cup 'o joe), so it would be easy to incorporate these as a morning kick-starter.
