My Review of Liquid Chalkers

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"Only Paper & Twine's Platinum Collection Liquid Chalkers contain the artist quality, hyper pigmented ink that provides bright, beautiful colors with marker tips that don't dry out or crack.
The perfect dustless marker for glass, whiteboard, & more"

Review…

I was a sent a vibrant set of 8 colors from Paper & Twine to review.
The price for this set of chalkers is $18.99, and qualifies for free shipping with Amazon Prime.

Packaging & Presentation of Liquid Chalkers

The Liquid Chalkers arrived in a clear plastic flip-top package.  The front of the chalkers described what they can be used for, the colors, and the size tip (in this case it is a 6mm chisel tip).  The back of the package details how to use them, cleanup instructions, and gave some creative ideas.

The package itself has a tab-type closure.  It is effective, but definitely not my favorite as it can easily break over time.

I took the chalkers out of their package, and I was surprised to see a printed label on each one.  The colors were pretty, and you can see the liquid chalk inside of each chalker.

The labels were really nice; each one is labeled with the product name, usage precautions, and simple directions for use.

A feature that I found pleasant while using these chalkers is that the cap fits onto the back of it.  I dislike when I use a writing instrument and the cap doesn't fit and I'm left trying to find a place to put the cap during use.

The tips on the Liquid Chalkers is very similar to a common marker.  They are chisel tips, so you are able to use a point for a thin line or you are able to produce a thick line using the entire tip. The picture below is a chisel tip turned in different directions.

My Personal Experience with Liquid Chalkers

Well, I have to say it.  Brace yourselves, because this is kind of sad.  I'm 26, and I have never owned a set of these.  When I received these, I was really excited and kind of drew on everything.

Before I used a chalker, I had to 'prime' it.  The liquid chalk is in the top capsule and needs to be brought into the tip in order to use.  In order to do this, you have to shake the chalker and push the tip down a few times on a paper towel.  The liquid slowly takes over the tip until it is full. At this time, it is ready to use.

The first thing I did was draw a flower on my car.  I have no idea why I did this, it just seemed appropriate at the time.

The chalkers worked really well. The colors were really close to the color of the cap.  What I didn't like is when I was filling in a large area, if I colored over a part I already colored, the chalk would kind of 'roll' over itself and crumble.  When I discovered it did this, I just changed my pattern, and everything went fine.

The next surface that I colored on was my bathroom mirror.  I just wanted to try out every color.  I'm telling you, these are fun! I drew a few pictures on the mirror.  I'm definitely not an artist, so forgive my lack of skill.

I foresee lots of occasions where I am going to use these.  They are great for vehicle windows, mirrors, ceramics, windows and doors in your house, and whiteboards.  Please, be sure to test the area before you mark on a large surface.  These are not for porous surfaces.

Cleanup?  Easy.  It literally wipes away.  Just grab a dry cloth and wipe.  I wiped some things off of the mirror, but I left the flower on my car.  I like it too much.

Pros of Liquid Chalkers
  • There is a variety of color.  This is great, as you won't be bound to certain colors for your project.
  • Safe and nontoxic.  Your kids can use these!
  • These chalkers will last a long time if you take care of them.
  • Paper & Twine offers a 365-day guarantee if you find yourself disappointed.
  • Easy cleanup.  Wipe away with a dry cloth!
Cons of Liquid Chalkers
  • The package closure.  I do not like the tab closures. In my experience, they wear away over time and lose their functionality.
