..::Review + Giveaway:.. Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil

My Review of Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil is a pure oil culled from the leaves of a tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) native to Australia. The aboriginal people of Australia have long used Tea tree oil. The Aborigines would bathe in medicinal pools of water where the tea tree leaves had naturally settled."

I was sent a 4 fl oz bottle of 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil (Pharmaceutical Grade) from Apothecary Extracts to review.

Packaging & Presentation of Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil

When I took the tea tree oil out of the box, I must say that I really liked the look of the bottle.  It has this 'country style' going on, and looks really good!

The front of the bottle lets you know basic product information (what you are buying, and how much of it).  The back of the bottle lets you know what tea tree oil is, suggested use, and warnings.

The 'other side' lists the following:  NO-- preservatives, artificial colors, fragrances, parabens, mineral oil, chemical solvents, petroleum.  The tea tree oil has also been through gas chromatography testing for purity and safety reasons.

My Personal Experience with Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil

My husband and I LOVE tea tree oil.  There are SO many benefits and uses for tea tree oil.  My husband likes to use it for personal care (shampoo, soap, topical use, etc.).

I prefer to use it for cleaning.  The cleansing and disinfectant properties of tea tree oil are amazing.  Plus there is this awesome minty-spice fragrance. I think the 'technical' description of the scent is "...a fresh, antiseptic and medicinal scent".  It makes the surface and surrounding area smell clean while tackling dirt and germs-- all naturally!

Think about it-- What other kitchen/bathroom/mold cleansers can you use as a shampoo?  :)

For this review, I decided to make my easy tea tree oil General Purpose Cleaner.  I usually use it in the kitchen, but you can use it anywhere in the house.  It also works great on floors.  It is super easy to make, and a 4 fl oz of tea tree oil will last a long time.

First, gather your supplies.  A spray bottle ($0.98 at Walmart), your bottle of Apothecary Extracts, and 4 cups of filtered water.

Gather your supplies!

Be sure to label your bottle!  Next begin pouring your water into the bottle.  4 cups should fill up the bottle.

Pour in your water

After that, you are going to add your tea tree oil.  You only need about 5-6 drops for the entire bottle, but I add around 8 for extra power.  This bottle was difficult to get the drops out of, so you might want to pop off the plastic and use your own dropper.

Add the tea tree oil!

Shake it up, and you are ready to go!  I wanted to show you a small area of how it cleans.  I noticed a coffee stain on the kitchen floor, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to show you how it works.

Step 1:  Spray the area of interest and let it saturate for about 15-20 seconds.

Spray it!

Step 2:  Wipe it down with a dry cloth.

Wipe the dirt away.

Step 3: Admire your beautiful, shiny floor!

All finished!

Pros of Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil
  • All-natural oil that can be used to make shampoo, lotion, soap, face cleaner, body wash, toothpaste, household cleaners, detergents, shower sprays, disinfectants, air fresheners, and kitchen sprays.
  • The fragrance is not incredibly overwhelming, like some tea tree oils that I've previously used.
  • The bottle is cute.
  • $24.99 is an outstanding price for a pharmaceutical grade oil of this size.
  • When you buy this oil, you get a free e-book that gives you a bunch of easy recipes for your tea tree oil.

Cons of Apothecary Extracts 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil
      • The self-dropping method on the bottle is terrible.  You kind of have to 'shake it', and it either lets out way to much or not enough.  Personally, from now on, I keep the plastic dropper cap off and just use a normal dropper in order to measure the amount.

          Summary

Tea tree oil has so many uses, and I am just in love with it.  I have 2 children, and I prefer to use natural products rather than products laden with harsh chemicals (when I have the choice).  The Apothecary Extracts tea tree oil that I reviewed here was great. It really was quality oil, and I loved everything about it except the self-dropper cap.

I used an oil mixture that had tea tree oil in it before. I'm interested in trying the all purpose mixture. I've been cleaning with more natural products but have yet to use tea tree oil.
