..::Product Review::.. Bulu Box ~ August

My Review of the August 2014 Bulu Box

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"Bulu Box is the best way to discover health, nutrition and weight loss products. Each monthly sample box is filled with 4 to 5 premium products selected to help you feel your best. Look forward to a new mix monthly for both women and men that include: vitamins, weight loss, energy, protein, digestion, sleep support, fitness DVDs, healthy food utensils and more."

Review…

Bulu Box recently sent me their September subscription box.  This box included the following:  The Good Bean snack, Quest Bar, RUNA Tea, Shapeology Burn Blend, Gard of Life RAW Organic Protein, and (a lifestyle bonus!) AdvanceMint Happy Hour.

The Bulu Box is very, very affordable at $10/month, with free shipping!  You can also sign up for 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month subscription, and can cancel at time.  It's as easy as that!

Packaging & Presentation

As I opened my mailbox, I was excited to see this little orange box sitting inside.  Measuring 12" x 8", this box packs a bunch of goodies!  Clearly, one can see that it is, indeed, the Bulu Box.  What you see below is a picture of the exterior box. On the bottom was the shipping label, and the rest of the box is covered with encouraging quotes.  Interesting!

The inside of the box was just as outstanding!  First, I do want to point out that this box was easy to open. That's always a plus!  Inside, there was orange tissue paper covering up the samples. I set everything up so you can get a good look!

My Personal Experience with the Bulu Box

If you know me personally, you would know that I love learning about nutritional products, and living a healthy lifestyle.  This is what naturally attracted me to the Bulu Box.  Sometimes, I walk around stores and see a bunch of products I like, but they are so expensive!  The Bulu Box is a great way to be able to sample premium products at a low price.  Here is the close-up:

The first product that I sampled, is a low-calorie snack called The Good Bean.  This crunchy snack bag is made of roasted chickpeas.  I love chickpeas, so I was drawn to these first!  A pack of 8 pouches is $19.98.

Secondly, we have the delicious Quest Bar.  It is a gourmet protein bar, and I'm not kidding when I say it is delicious.  I've been eating these for the past year.  I love them.  I usually get the cookies and cream one, but the Bulu Box sent a chocolate chip cookie dough one, and I wasn't complaining. It was just as good as my usual.  A pack of 12 Quest bars is $30.99.

The third sample is a product called RUNA tea.  Containing a super-leaf called guayusa (found in the Amazon), it provides natural caffeine and age-fighting antioxidants.  It serves as a good afternoon pick-me-up.  Also, (you know I have to mention this!) it is organic, fair trade certified, & kosher.  It is a strong tea, but naturally sweet.  It is $35.99 for 96 tea bags.

Since the Bulu Box is also known to provide weight-loss samples, I was sent (2) packs of something called Shapeology Burn Blend.  What this does is mimics the effects of a high metabolism in your body so you burn calories faster.  It's not like other weight loss supplements, this is a liquid.  Using a liquid delivery system means that you will feel the supplement working immediately!  It is $39.99 for 60 capsules.

The last product is called Garden of Life RAW Organic Protein.  This product is a powder that you mix in water to be taken as a dietary supplement.  It is:  raw, vegan, certified organic, gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, no fillers, no synthetic nutrients, no artificial flavors or sweeteners, no preservatives, and no pea protein.  My husband and I were joking, and we said, "Well, what is it then!?"  Made from live probiotics and enzymes, it is an excellent source of protein from 13 raw organic sprouts.  This powder was flavored vanilla spiced chai, and is pretty good.  It tastes like any other mix in, almost an acquired taste.  This costs $41.15 for 28 servings.

But wait...there's more!  I was also sent a lifestyle bonus product in my box.  It is called AdvanceMint Happy Hour.  Now, these are pretty interesting!  These are mints that offset the negative effects of alcohol.  Every time you decide to drink alcohol, take 2 tablets for every 3 drinks.  Not only are they tasty, but they replenish your body with vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and antioxidants so you will not have a nasty hangover.  This product costs $24.00 for (6) packs of 6 mints.

Lastly, I also wanted to make note of the included sample journal.  It is a card that allows you to keep track of the samples.  For instance, it lists all the samples and allows you to fill in information about them as you take them.  It is a good way to keep track of what you like (...and what you don't!).  The other side lists information about all the included samples.

Pros of the Bulu Box
  • You get to try well known, expensive nutritional supplements, weight loss products, and more once a month without wasting a bunch of money (especially if you don't like it!)
  • Shipped directly to your door.  No going to GNC to ask for small samples, no ordering samples from numerous websites.
  • There is a little something for everybody.  It's nice to be able to step out of your comfort zone, too, and try something you wouldn't normally purchase.
  • The sample journal is a nice tool to hang on the fridge and remind yourself to rate each sample for the rewards program.

Cons of the Bulu Box
  • Sometimes a subscriber does not prefer products with certain ingredients.  It would be awesome if the Bulu Box website allowed you to create a profile that let you check off a list of common ingredients that you don't like.  That way they don't ship you samples that you won't use.
  • Some of the samples are really small.  For example, there was only 1 tea bag in my box.  I would have liked to have 2 just to make sure that the first one wasn't a fluke.  There should be enough samples of each product to be able to test out at least 2 times.

Summary

Yes.  I love this box.  It all started when I opened it to discover my coveted Quest bar, and I knew things were going to be great from there on out.  I really enjoyed trying everything.  I'm not saying that I liked everything where I am going to run out to purchase it tomorrow or anything, but it did give me a taste of what I like and what I don't.  Now, when I see the brands in the store, I can recall if I liked it or not.  I also like Bulu Box's rewards program.  After you sample everything, you fill out a survey about how you liked it, and you get 60 points.  That equates to $6.00.  These rewards points stack up so you can buy the full-sized versions of your favorite products.  It's a pretty cool idea, and you aren't losing anything out of it.
