What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"A large reward chart and re-usable stickers to help encourage positive behavior, achievement and development in children from 4 years. Ideal for preparing children for elementary school.
Most importantly, parents can customize this chart to the individual need of their child to thorough support the everyday challenges."

My Personal Experience with 'My Growing Up Chart'

After reading the guide, my 6-year old Charlie and I went through the activity stickers and picked out the ones that we wanted to work on.  We chose the following from the pre-made activity stickers:

I dressed myself.
I've been polite.
I enjoyed school. (I added, "I didn't get in trouble.")
I've eaten my food.
I've been good at bedtime.

After that, we decided that we were going to choose 3 of the blank activity stickers to write on.  We wrote:

I did my chores.
I did my homework.
I took a bath.

Our filled in chart

After we filled everything in, we put the stickies on:

There were 6 stickies in total

Lastly, we hung it up and talked about it.  I explained how it worked, and he is super excited to start!

Charlie loves it!

Pros of 'My Growing Up Chart'
  • Everything is removable/temporary allowing for easy changes if necessary.
  • The dry erase marker actually works and doesn't leave remnants when erased.
  • Colorful, great for keeping kids' attention.
  • Easy for your child to understand.

Cons of 'My Growing Up Chart'
  • I wish the chart included magnets as well as the stickies so I could attach it to my fridge door.  The stickies were actually not very sticky, either.  I had to push extra hard to make them stay.
  • There is nowhere to store the marker when not in use.

Summary

After having a baby 5 months ago, my 6 year old has been acting out more than usual.  This chart will be a lifesaver.  He's always been a good kid, but I think he needs to get back on track.  This chart serves as a daily visual reminder of how his actions can affect his rewards.  I really like this idea.  It's easy to use, and lets my son be in charge of his behavior.  He was also really excited to help me set it up and check out the cool stickers it came with.  This chart is for kids 4+ (about elementary school age).
