..::Product Review::.. flipflop Wines!

My Review of flipflop Wines!

What is it exactly?

From the website . . .
"...With flipflop wines, we have embraced the movement toward individualistic expression, instead of manufacturing wines into some cookie-cutter style that’s all the rage. Our goal is to craft expressive, well-balanced wines that evoke just what the grapes inside intended, without being over-wrought or over-explained, and that can be enjoyed at any occasion..."

Review…

This is my second time reviewing flipflop Wine!  I love it, and so do all of my friends who try it.  I host lots of wine and cheese parties, and always have flipflop as the wine for everybody!

Packaging & Presentation

For review, I received a bottle of Chardonnay (Vintage 2009) and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon (Vintage 2009).  I also received a few neat fact sheets about the wines!

Ease of Use

First, I decided to try flipflop’s Chardonnay! This evening, I had a Caesar salad for dinner, and since Chardonnay pairs well with Caesar salad, I thought I'd give it a shot.  It was DELICIOUS!  I really enjoyed this glass of wine with my dinner, as did my husband.  It wasn't overpowering, but it did give the salad a different dimension of taste!

Here is some information about the Chardonnay:
  • Tastes Like: Medium-bodied, Chardonnay with pineapple, soft vanilla and a long lingering finish.
  • Full Of: Creamy, toasted oak notes.
  • Serve: Chilled
  • SRP: $7.00

Next, I tasted the Cabernet Sauvignon. I never tried Cabernet Sauvignon, so I did not know what to expect.  I am more of a white wine drinker, so I was a bit nervous to try a red wine!  Cabernet Sauvignon has a very strong, distinct taste.  It stays in around a while, and gives you time to understand all of the tastes that are mingling in your mouth!  It is a dry wine, and served at room temperature.  Paired with the right foods, such as New York strip steak, spinach ravioli, or Portobellos mushrooms, it would be delicious!

Here is some information about the Cabernet Sauvignon:
  • Tastes Like: Full-bodied, Cabernet Sauvignon with blackberry fruit, dark cherries and a long lingering finish.
  • Full Of: Black pepper notes and berry aromas.
  • Serve: Room Temperature
  • SRP: $7.00

Meet the Vintner, flipflop wines:
David Georges lives up to the motto of “recycle, reduce, reuse”.  David discovered that he really wanted to study viticulture as he worked at an organic vegetable farm.  He also took up enology at the University of California.  David wanted to make wines that were well-balanced, and affordable for all people on all economic levels.

**flipflop wines is a company that gives back!  Here is a fact sheet that I received with the wine:

The company partnered with Soles4Souls, allowing children to have the basic necessity of shoes.  Flipflop wines want to achieve their goal of putting 11 million pairs of shoes on in 2011!  For every bottle of wine sold, flipflop wines will distribute a pair of shoes to someone in need!

Summary

Every time I walk into a store, the first thing I notice is the flipflop Wines display.  It may be partially because I am a supporter of this company, partially because it the the BEST wine that I have ever tasted, partially because it fits into my economic pocket, but MOSTLY I love knowing that buying a bottle of flipflop wine for one of my social events not only gives us a good time, it helps somebody less fortunate receive a pair of shoes.  Knowing that I am supporting a company that cares about our communities puts a smile on my face and keeps me bragging about such a wonderful company!
